Shrinking airline seats aren’t gonna fly with this judge. Federal Judge Patricia Millett blasted airline honchos for claiming that seat size doesn’t affect passenger safety and ordered them to more deeply investigate what she called “The Case of the Incredible Shrinking Airline Seat,” according to a report Friday. If they don't like the size of the seat they get on an airline then they'll not fly with it. But the larger economic point I'm making still stands:The judge rejected the FAA's argument that seat size was unimportant to getting off the plane in an emergency. That the FAA must, by law, regulate the size of airline seats is, in miniature, what's wrong with the American economy today.
