Anna Landre, a sophomore at Georgetown University, is trying to change how people think and talk about disabilities. Landre makes her way across Georgetown University’s campus. She prefers to say, “disabled people.”Landre knows that runs counter to what many people believe is respectful. “The assumption is, if you’re disabled, you’re not going to work, and if you’re working, you’re not disabled,” Landre says. That’s an “antiquated” way of thinking, she says — and she is trying to change that and so much more.
