For the second year running, the Thiruvananthapuram region (which comprises Kerala and Lakshadweep) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) topped the Class 10 examinations with a pass percentage of 99.85. Palakkad girl Bhavana N. Sivadas did the region proud by emerging a national topper with 499 out of 500 marks. Three other students from the region – Adheena Elsa Roy of Silver Hills Public School, Marikunnu, Kozhikode; Salma A.N. Dilwin Prince from Devamatha CMI Public School, Thiruvambady, Thrissur, was the national topper in the Children With Special Needs category, securing 493 marks. 2 Naval Base, Kochi, with 492 marks; and Irene Tresa Mathews of Christu Jayanthi Public School, Kakkanad, Kochi, with 491 marks.
