Graham Leslie Welsh was convicted of drink-driving for a third time when he appeared in the District Court in Timaru. A South Canterbury man who was stopped for drink-driving on State Highway 1 in Ashburton and blew more than four times the legal limit, has been fined and given interlock system provisions as part of his sentence. In New Zealand, the alcohol limit for drivers aged 20 years and over is 250 mcg of alcohol per litre of breath. “Unfortunately, only one week before the offence he lost his job of 19 years.”Judge Ruth asked Glover if Welsh was subject to the interlock regime and if he had a vehicle capable of having an interlock unit installed. “You were driving with a very high reading,” Judge Ruth said.
