David CampbellA third round of testing of noise levels from orchard frost-fighting wind turbines may be done after results from a second round are finalised, Central Otago District Council planning manager David Campbell says. The council commissioned the testing after concerns from residents in Letts Gully, near Alexandra, about high noise levels from Leaning Rock Cherries Ltd turbines in their area. Some testing was done in August, which showed the turbines were operating within council rules, but residents said that just showed it was the council rules that were the problem. He said the report from the second round of testing had been sent to the 10 neighbours who had complained to the council about the noise, and to Leaning Rock Cherries representatives. A "technicality" in the report from the second round of testing was being clarified and then it would be released publicly, possibly this week, Mr Campbell said.
