The job was a perfect fit for my background, and both the HR VP and my hiring manager "Allison" told me "You're perfect for the role." The HR VP said they were going to check my references. I took a different job -- not my dream job by any means, but it's okay. She said that the guy they hired for "my" job didn't work out. She gave no explanation why she dropped me like a hot potato the last time I interviewed for the job.
