They’re not outstanding in their field, but Jays are standing pat with their outfield

The Jays didn’t touch their outfield and, inevitably, that’s going to lead to some problems in 2020. The Jays’ outfield placed 27th in the majors last season with a 1.6 fWAR. So the Jays outfield was dreadful and, after an off-season of pitching adds, it arguably has become Toronto’s biggest area of need. The spot where that’s most likely is left field, where Gurriel made just 63 appearances last season because of injuries. It won’t be as acceptable next season, and until Toronto acquires a viable everyday centre-fielder, this starting outfield is going to be a liability.
