Photo: DPAThe German government agreed on new rules on Wednesday to speed up deportations of rejected asylum seekers. The state with the second largest number of people waiting to be deported was Baden-Württemberg, at 26,769. Germany’s 16 states are responsible for the deportation of failed asylum seekers and illegal immigrants who live in their administrations. Bavaria - Germany’s second largest state with a population of about 13 million - had proportionally far fewer people waiting to be deported, at 16,587. National capital Berlin, with a population of 3.5 million, had only slightly fewer people waiting to be deported, at 15,166.
