Illinois cracked the top three in this year's Forbes report for best midsize employers to work for, in a recent survey. For jurisdiction and size classing, companies that employed between 1,000 to 5,000 employees were put into the midsize classification, while companies larger than 5,000 were put into the heavyweight category. The midsize list of companies capped out at 400 positions, while the large size organizations capped out at 600. People who could participate in the study included current employees, past employees who had been employed within the last two years and individuals familiar with the company—however current and former employees' answers had heavier weight on the rankings scale.
