These High School Football Players Didn't Need To Take A Knee To Protest

Players in many sports from the youth level on up have protested in the Colin Kaepernick style, but players on two high school football teams in the last week have showed how players can use their voice to promote and evoke change in ways other than on one knee. As Roncalli High in Indianapolis took the field for its opening football game on Aug. 17, one of its star players was waving a flag -- a rainbow flag. That was in protest to the Catholic high school on Aug. 13 demanding a longtime counselor either resign or dissolve her marriage -- because someone made the school aware she is married to a woman. From the AJC:Players walked out of practice on Wednesday, which led to a meeting between Hunnicutt and the players. You can say all you want about snowflakes and spoiled kids and blah blah blah, but let this be a message -- players united can have an impact.
