Showcasing men’s viewpoint in business, computer science or engineering is pointless, since it already dominates most conferences, media coverage and everyday life in those fields. Yet men don’t monopolize every profession. In some, they don’t have parity, and don’t come close. Although women represent only about one quarter of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workforce overall, some roles come much closer to gender parity, and a few roles are clearly the domain of women. Discussion groups for men in nursing or an article on the male experience in dental hygiene have a meaningful place for promoting diversity in those professions, where men are in the minority and may face special challenges in the work environment.
