Another victory for this notebook. As we roll into 2019, the age of shower gel is passing. Soap bars are making a comeback and on Monday the Daily Mirror reported the happy news: “Britain spent £68.3 million on barred soap in the year to September 2018”. The paper explains that after years of decline, this rise of nearly 3 per cent over the previous year outstripped liquid and gel products. 2018 marked an intensification of my 12-year campaign against shower gel.
