When we came here in 2005, within the depth of 20 meters we got water - pure water. But because of this illegal pumping, the water level has depleted and the water has also become saline. In case of quarry sites, surface water is only extracted not the ground water. As per the Chennai Metro Water Board officials, they have revamped the mobile water supply. But, at present the excessive extraction is leading to a dip in the ground water level and has led Chennai to an impending disaster.
