Now some Nasa scientists have come up with an idea for preventing future supervolcano eruptions. Last month BBC Future ran an article asking: "Would a supervolcano eruption wipe us out?" When Nasa scientists looked at the supervolcano threat, they decided the most logical solution was to cool down a supervolcano's magma chamber. "And the long-term benefit is that you prevent a future supervolcano eruption which would devastate humanity."
