Taffe Charles doesn’t need to rebuild as Carleton Ravens head coach, just reload a team that in 17 years has won 14 Canadian university men’s basketball titles and reached the national semifinals three other times. “If I had not done something and been successful on my own with the women’s program and not won a championship, I feel like it would have been much more intimidating, to be perfectly frank. So, it’s daunting, but the expectation has always been the same thing.”Charles’ replacement on the women’s team, Brian Cheng, has his own experience filling big shoes. “The team, the program, the culture, it has spoken for itself in terms of what it has done,” Cheng says. “The formula and the culture and how we do things, why we do things, that’s the Carleton way.
