Video from Qualia coffee shop on Jan. 22, showed the suspect walking over to the water station and spitting liquid at the shop's manager. Joel Finkelstein, owner of Qualia Coffee, had originally banned the man at the center of the spitting controversy. Sherwood said the man would typically walk in the bar by himself, order a drink and start engaging with strangers. Over the years, said Swift from Meridian Pint, numerous bars and restaurants in Columbia Heights have tossed the man from their establishments.
