Waterloo Creek, NSW In 1838, major James Nunn and a detachment of 22 troops were sent to suppress the Gamilaroi, who were fighting for their lands and survival along the Namoi and Gwydir rivers. Many hundreds may have been slaughtered. Nunn once boasted of killing every Koori man he had ever met.
