The state of anti-bribery and corruption risk in the Middle East


Global consulting firm Kroll has released the 2022 edition of its Anti-Bribery and Corruption Benchmarking Report, which surveyed 700 risk experts from around the world. Kroll’s most recent Anti-Bribery and Corruption survey included executives and compliance professionals from two key countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region – the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Fifty-seven percent of UAE respondents cited this as a particular concern, versus 53% of KSA respondents. Whistleblower culture, or a lack thereofA whistleblowing program is arguably a key component of any effective Anti-Bribery and Corruption program. Traditionally, the practice of whistleblowing has been a less common and widely accepted practice in the MENA region as compared to the US or UK.
