The stars! The style! The turtlenecks! And now, the good-byes as Club Monaco joins the ghosts of the Mink Mile
Just some of the flashes I had when seeing recently that the flagship Club Monaco, on Bloor, had officially gone au revoir. Not only that, but reverberations of hometown lore, contained in the building, from decades even before that. That Club Monaco space — a temple of turtlenecks — had no shortage of visiting boldface, even during the TIFF off-season back then. Club Monaco co-founder Joe Mimran — still in the blush of his sale to Ralph Lauren just months prior and with his then-fiancé, Kim, on his arm — was in his element. Crew vacated recently, the giant Gap is gone, Mulberry dunzo — the sizable space left by Club Monaco would seem to indicate a challenge.
