The Libyan general Khalifa Haftar, Commander in Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA) based in eastern Libya, today inaugurated in Benghazi the second edition of Libya Build Benghazi, an event dedicated to the building and construction sector, with a strong presence of Italian companies ready to contribute to the reconstruction of the areas devastated by the floods that hit eastern Libya on 11 September 2023, causing around 6.000 deaths and destroying large areas of the city of Derna. Also present are excellent Italian companies such as Modenese Arredamenti di Lusso and Renco, active in the oil & gas and infrastructure sector. After the Italian-Libyan Business Forum in Tripoli, which brought over 100 representatives of Italian companies and institutions to the Libyan capital last week, the presence of Italians at Libya Build confirms the interest of the Italian business system in the reconstruction of Libya, particularly in the construction sector. The event today sees the participation of Nicola Colicchi, president of the Italian-Libyan Chamber of Commerce, while the arrival of the Italian ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, is expected tomorrow, demonstrating Italy's strong interest in consolidating economic and diplomatic relations with the North African country.
