Now Arab Strap are back – singing about porn overload and dancing with corpses. It’s also an apt and darkly comic metaphor for the back-from-the-dead return of a band for whom sex was an integral topic. Moffat and Malcolm Middleton formed Arab Strap in 1995, broke up in 2006, reformed for live shows in 2016 and are now back with new music. “Arab Strap grew out of that.” Tales of weekend debauchery became the duo’s lyrical focus. It came out when Britpop had reached peak naff and Arab Strap found themselves the hangover after the party.
