They also seek to inspire other Muslim citizens of these countries to carry out terrorist attacks as payback for the death and misery exacted on their religion by the Western crusaders. The latest example occurred last month in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, where militants killed 305 people attending services in a mosque. Those slaughtered innocents followed Islam's mystical Sufi movement, which operatives of the Islamic State affiliate in Sinai consider heretics who should be killed. This war on Muslims by Muslims was observed daily during the Islamic State's takeover of large sections of Iraq and Syria. Since both are overwhelmingly Muslim countries, it's logical to expect that the vast majority of these victims were Muslims.
