Gun violence, like the politics surrounding the issue, is deep and ugly. And now, as a result of frightening statistics and horrific tragedies, both countries must tackle gun violence again. Next week, Ralph Goodale, the Minister of Public Safety, will convene an unprecedented summit on gun violence in Canada. As well as the inestimable cost of lives, the prevention of gun violence also costs money. In 2017, The minister announced $327.6 million over five years and $100,000 annually thereafter to fight guns and gun violence.
