PHOTO: LOUISE FRAMPTONThe skirl of the bagpipes is being heard in Dunedin as the city hosts the New Zealand Pipe Band Championships. Thirty-five bands from throughout New Zealand and two from Australia are competing at the University Oval today and tomorrow. Tomorrow morning, bands will compete in a street march section starting at 9am at the dental school and continuing along George St. In the afternoon, Grades 1 and 2 (the top bands) will be performing at the University Oval before a massed band performance and prizegiving at 5.30pm.
