When Dr Kathryn Weston’s son sits his A-levels in June, she plans to be at home no matter what. She is one of a band of parents planning to work from home or take “exam leave” — in the form of holiday entitlement or unpaid parental leave — to provide maximum support to teenagers at one of the most stressful periods in their young lives. “What I see anecdotally, certainly among more affluent parents, is making sure they are at home at this time of year is absolutely prioritised,” says Weston, the founder of Tooled Up Education, a digital platform that provides evidence-based resources for parents and educators. “The reason for that is that managing exam timetables can be a complex task for young people.
