Pupils in year four will take part in a multiplication tables check in June. The check was introduced back in 2019 to ensure that primary school children know their times tables off by heart. The Government says that knowledge of times tables helps children to solve problems quickly and flexibly. "That’s why we are bringing in this new check – to make sure all pupils leave primary school knowing their times tables by heart.
