For decades, Kazakh influential Nursultan Nazarbayev forced his domination to challenge. On Wednesday, Mr. Tokaev dismissed Mr. Nazerbayev from the chair of the National Security Council and stripped him of his most important official position. On Wednesday, Mr. Tokaev dismissed the ministers carefully selected by Mr. Nazarbayev because of anxiety. Under Mr. Tokaev, government policies remained the same, and the standard of living of many Kazakhs continued to decline. “Economic protests have turned into political protests,” said Diana T. Kudaibergenova, a sociologist at the University of Cambridge and an expert in Kazakhstan.
