After selling for $1.5 million, two exceptionally rare bottles of Macallan 1926 single malt whisky have shattered the world record for the most expensive pair of whiskies ever sold. Le Clos, a luxury spirits retailer in Dubai’s international airport, recently sold the record-breaking bottles to a private collector. According to Scotch Whisky magazine, the 1926 single malt Scotch whisky was distilled in Craigellachie, Moray, and aged for 60 years in sherry-seasoned oak casks before being bottled in 1986. Of the 40 bottles produced, Blake and Adami received a dozen each. The distillery proferred the remainder to preferred clients at the time, according to Scotch Whisky magazine, and the bottles are now coveted by collectors the world over.
