Ngema rose to fame through his plays, including the award-winning Sarafina!, Woza Albert!, and Asinamali among the many that earned him critical acclaim as a legendary playwright and actor in South Africa. "He was an all-rounder, he was a music composer, he wrote plays, and he was an actor, the man was gifted, and that for me is what set him apart," Maake kaNcube says.
