The housing market has made a difficult start to spring, with sales numbers declining significantly in September. According to the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand, 5816 residential properties were sold throughout the country in September. The drop in sales appeared nationwide, with sales in Auckland down 2.7% compared to August ,and sales in the rest of the country (excluding Auckland) down 3.6% compared to August. Although sales were in decline, the number of new listings received in September rose 20.4% compared to a year earlier.
