Julian Felipe's masterpiece resonated at Seoul's Royal Bowling Center after Arianne Cerdena of the Philippines won the gold medal in women's tenpin bowling. Japanese veteran kegler Atsuko Asai hurdled past Annikki Maattola of Finland in the stepladder to earn the right to face the Filipina bowler in the gold medal match. But that gold did not count officially because bowling was just a demonstration sport in the Seoul Games. Technically, that was the first gold medal the country has ever won in the Olympics albeit in the annals of sports history, there's an asterisk attached to Cerdena's remarkable record. Hopes are high that the Philippines can finally end its 97-year drought and win its first Olympic gold medal in Tokyo.
