The fascinating history of Glasgow's Bellahouston Park

The Glasgow Corporation purchased some land south of the city centre to be used as a park for £50,000, and Bellahouston Park opened to the public in 1896, the same year the city’s Subway began operating. A historic moment for Bellahouston Park came in 1938 when the Empire Exhibition, a celebration of the British Empire, was held there.
