The end of jet lag? Scientists develop a drug that can 'reset' the body clock forward – and it could be a game–changer for frequent travellers

Scientists from Kanazawa University in Japan have developed a drug that can 'reset' your body clock forward. This particular gene plays a key role in maintaining your circadian rhythm – the internal body clock that regulates the sleep–wake cycle. The findings suggest the compound may serve as a prototype 'smart drug' for managing jet lag or shift work. And it could be more effective than existing methods of trying to rearrange the body clock, such as light therapy or taking melatonin, according to the experts. Scientists from Northwestern University in the US created a mathematical model which analysed the best way to reset your body clock after a long–haul flight.
