The eagle has landed: Bird of prey swoops in on B.C. fishing trip

Derril McKenzie was out fishing with his brother-in-law Friday afternoon on Gardom Lake, south of Salmon Arm, when they were visited by a juvenile bald eagle. Derril McKenzie said the bird was surprisingly docile when it landed on his boat. Derril McKenzie suspects the bird was looking for a snack when it landed on the boat. Unfortunately, he said, he and his brother-in-law have been out to Gardom Lake about 10 times and have never caught a thing. McKenzie says he hopes to return to Gardom Lake to see the eagle once more before winter sets in.
