I suspect Joe had told Morrissey I was enthusiastic and harmless, and encouraged Morrissey to accept my request for an interview. Liz told me Morrissey liked eggs, but I was much less of a fan. To me, they seemed like the antithesis of the likes of Duran Duran. When I interviewed John Taylor of Duran Duran, I told him all this, even though I felt a bit mean doing so. I told him there’s a lot I like about Duran Duran now, but back then we needed the Smiths.
