In 2012, the Prevention and Management of Conflict of Interest was introduced in the Rajya Sabha but failed to pass muster. Caesar’s wife and cricket stars must be seen to be above suspicion. Laxman of the Cricket Advisory Committee face conflict of interest issues is this: Is there a balancing point? Can the BCCI work out a compromise where a former player’s expertise is at its disposal while ensuring that conflict of interest, though technically present, does no harm? In the CAC’s case, there is conflict of interest, but it does not make a “material difference”.
