SUPPLIED David Rouse, chief executive of Carbonclick, believed the new frontier in climate response was for workplace schemes workers could use to offset their carbon footprints. It's a spin-off from Air New Zealand's carbon offsetting service, developed so fliers could buy carbon offsets for their flights. He hoped some companies would take a KiwiSaver-like approach and match workers' offset costs dollar-for-dollar to encourage their employees of going carbon neutral. So it launched a scheme to help staff buy e-bikes through advances on their salaries. He hoped the emergence of in-work carbon staff schemes would create a tipping point prompting most employers to offer carbon management services to staff just as they now routinely offer matching KiwiSaver contributions.
