President Uhuru Kenyatta’s call to the Church to support the government in uniting Kenyans is a welcome gesture that should be supported by everyone. Because most Kenyans are Christians, the church is in pole position to ensure that the message of unity is echoed across the country. The church should at all times endeavour to be the voice of reason. Most Kenyans heed to their clerics and accept their guidance and counsel over matters relating to the welfare of the nation. Religious faith — Christian, Muslim, Hindu and others — is an important pillar of society that imparts values on the faithful.
