From The Times, May 5, 1921:To the Editor of The Times,Sir, Cricket, the national summer game, is once more claiming and receiving the enthusiastic support of its adherents. Now that the Australian team is here — representative of that spirit of individual equality and comradeship that is the lifeblood of sport, as it is of Empire — I feel emboldened to question the wisdom of the traditional methods of distinction between amateur and professional usual in county cricket.
