The aerial strength and goalscoring drive of Cork’s U14s is encouraging

The aerial strength and goalscoring drive of Cork’s U14s is encouragingWE took a detour through Killeagh on the road to Nowlan Park for the U21 semi-final last weekend. We’d a vested interest in these challenge matches, as two of Ballincollig’s most promising youngsters were involved, Tadhg O’Connell and James Dwyer. They’re serious hurlers, wristy and strong, and – even allowing for my bias – looked the part as the A team overpowered the Déise. James’ father Danny is the club’s intermediate boss and his uncle John coaches the Cork U21s; Danny and John both lined out for Cork from U14 up through the ranks. Two noticeable aspects of Cork’s attacking approach was their aerial strength and hunger for goals.
