The Asia Pacific region saw carbon dioxide emissions increase by 50% since 2005, while emissions in the U.S. and EU declined. A key driver in the U.S. and Germany was legislation aimed at limiting carbon dioxide emissions. It also remains true that China’s per capita carbon dioxide emissions are much lower than those in the U.S. Thus, it is clear that the U.S. bears responsibility for its share of the atmospheric carbon dioxide inventory.
