The Work Day, Reinvented: Achievement As A Business Model

A truly achievement-oriented professional services business model doesn't measure its success by where or when work gets done but by the quality of its work. In our constantly connected world, I’m genuinely flummoxed by why companies still pretend that there’s a "business day." Our team members don’t request vacations; they coordinate with team members in advance to ensure coverage both through the calendar and using proactive communication. Not only does this give the new team member an "anchor" within the team, but it gives us firsthand information, beyond an interview, on overall fit and abilities. In other cases, team members have moved away but remained on the team -- a huge benefit to talent retention.
