Away cofounders Steph Korey (L) and Jen Rubio (Photo by Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images) Getty ImagesAccording to outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, a record number of CEOs—1,480—have left their posts. Steph Korey was CEO and cofounder of Away, a self-described travel and lifestyle brand that sold trendy luggage. Korey was the most recent CEO to relinquish her title, hire a new CEO and assume the role of chairwoman. The article painted the picture of Korey as a mercurial micro-manager and cruel boss who belittles employees and demands too much from them. If you would substitute a male CEO in her place, it would not have made anyone think twice.
