So, what is democracy and why isn’t the U.S. one at the moment? As far as I can tell, there are three basic characteristics that a true democratic system is going to have. Democracy isn’t just a suggestion box. It’s a vision of democracy that also connects that part of the Democratic Party to the Left. One thing I’ve thought a lot about is the extent to which democracy, one of the background ideas of democracy, might be that connective tissue.
