Imagine you’re a product engineer for a U.S. device brand based in China. Concerns over the immediate future of Huawei Technologies Co. with its CFO under arrest, are well warranted. It goes further: Cisco Systems Inc. routers, Dell Inc. computers, and wiring harnesses for Ford Motor Co. are sourced from China. The same cannot be said for U.S. hopes to replace Chinese labor, factories and supply chains. But China has swathes of American industry in chains.
