A year ago, the world didn’t really know much about CrowdStrike, and George Kurtz, the cybersecurity firm’s cofounder, was perfectly happy with that. This all changed in September when a redacted transcript of President Trump’s call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky became public. He pitched the idea to McAfee but according to Kurtz, the company did not want to spend the time or money to change. CrowdStrike got going in 2012, and Kurtz demonstrated a talent not just for creating sophisticated tech but also savvy marketing. As part of the report, CrowdStrike named a Chinese officer, Chen Ping, alleging he was part of the group.
