He entered the country during the Biden administration as part of a resettlement program for Afghans who aided the U.S. and was granted asylum during the Trump administration earlier this year. During his first term, Trump initially barred people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S. and was forced to revise the policy after the original ban was struck down by the courts.
