On our new 22d annual list, United Way is again No. 1, but with a big difference: Alexandria, Va.-based United Way reported private donations of $3.6 billion—a 9.1% increase over the previous year’s $3.3 billion. Collectively, the 100 nonprofits on our list received $49.5 billion in donations in their latest fiscal years. But it's a 3.9% drop from the $51.5 billion reported by the 100 charities on our 2019 list.
