The Terrific New 'Terminator: Dark Fate' Trailer Attempts To Fool Us Thrice

Ten years ago, I expected good things from Terminator: Salvation because I liked McG’s prior action movies and because I had no misgivings about seeing a Terminator movie set within the “future war” period. Directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool) and produced by James Cameron, this first teaser for Terminator: Dark Fate looks like a kick-ass action movie with humans and robots trying to kill each other that just happens to take place within the continuity of the first two Terminator movie. This time, Terminator: Dark Fate is a sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day (presumably using the cryptic theatrical ending, not the mega-happy director’s cut ending) with Arnold Schwarzenegger again playing a T-800 and Linda Hamilton again playing Sarah Connor, the so-called mother of the future. After Robert Rodriguez’s Alita: Battle Angel turned out to be a surprisingly ripping sci-fi adventure movie, I’m now in the position of giving Terminator: Dark Fate the benefit of the doubt by virtue of Cameron’s involvement. Come what may, Terminator: Dark Fate, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton, Mackenzie Davis (as the "good" Terminator), Natalie Reyes (as the new target), Gabriel Luna (as the new "bad" Terminator) and Jude Collie (as John Connor), opens from Paramount/Viacom on November 1, 2019.
