The hapless Stags still remain the only winless side in this year's Mitre 10 Cup competition, after being outclassed 43-26 by Counties Manukau in Invercargill on Saturday afternoon. But their bonus-point win at Rugby Park has, for the time being anyway, lifted them into the top four in the premiership division. From there, Counties Manukau piled on 19 points in a stunning five-minute burst where Southland didn't touch the ball. It was ugly stuff for the Stags, who then blew a golden chance to draw level before the break, when their lineout drive was brought to ground.
